Law is about maximizing gain while minimizing undue risk. My job is not just to know how to achieve both of these goals but, more importantly, to help navigate the waters, providing careful analysis along with a clear plan to achieve both of these goals.
My approach is to provide a credible and organized guidance through the legal process, supporting clients so as to avoid present and future conflict between the client and others (including partners, etc.), to get matters resolved if they have the potential for or are already in conflict, and to move forward.
Avoiding undue risk does not mean avoiding all risk. Taking risks is what opens up opportunity, but it should always be carefully considered. Risk is about uncertainty. While there is no way to avoid uncertainty, there is a clear benefit to anticipating and dealing with risk before events occur that decrease options, which can occur where the attorney draws upon experience in dealing with business problems.
I have been doing this for over 45 years, during which I have handled matters involving business and property disputes as an advocate and, for the last 20 or so years, as a mediator and arbitrator.
When risks are considered and minimized at the earliest stages, the chances for a favorable result are maximized.
